The Bowmans

www.myspace.com/thebowmans

Launched in the mid 1980s on a state-of-the-art, fancy, high-tech, cutting edge lecture tape recorder their father soon after regretted loaning them, The Bowmans smoldering debut album, "Chicks and Families Radio Rocks" was cut! This trademark stuffed animal community effort formed an astronomical compilation of unforgettable hits by big time recording artists Snot the Pig and Little Bear Second Brain.

The Bowmans have performed together consistently since then. And now, after a recording hiatus of 21 years, The Bowmans are back on tracks. The stuffed animal superstars' influence is more subdued these days, yet The Porker Song has subsisted, appearing on The Bowmans' debut people-made album, "Far From Home," which is a top seller on New York's antifolk.net and has received positive acclaim from national music blogs, international papers, daily papers across the nation, and in New York press. The Bowmans' music has been aired on NPR's All Songs Considered, and various radio stations worldwide.

On the new album, Sarah Bowman's lyrics and vocals range from reminiscently droll to poignantly sublime. Together, the twins' harmonies are uncanny, seeming to come simultaneously from one astonishing voice. Sarah and Claire share the rare, intuitive bond common to twins who have performed together since childhood, and because of this they are clearly always on the same musical page.

2006 was a big touring year for The Bowmans, both nationally and internationally. The Bowmans toured nationally in January and May, and again in July as tour support for Rasputina. (Sarah Bowman is also the second cellist in Rasputina.) They toured nationally again in September and October, then on to the UK, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, and France in November and December.
