BIOGRAPHY
The Ericksons were born in a small corner of the midwest somewhere during that time when 2005 turned to 2006. Bethany, the founder of the group, explains that it really all started with a rather inauspicious impromptu concert in her kitchen. She played and sang a few songs that she'd been working on in secret and they almost brought that first audience (a lone listener, in fact) to tears. Soon after, Bethany recruited Jenny (her younger sister, the one with the red hair and the foul temper) to join her. The Erickson's signature sound of vocal harmony and twin acoustic guitars was born. Two years later and they are a steady presence in the bars and venues of Brooklyn and Manhattan, having just played the prestigious Knitting Factory for the first time. They like to think of their music as a calming salve for unquiet minds. It is soulful music, influenced heavily by pain as well as joy and born of a shared creative drive. Anyone who attends a performance will feel the strength of their large smiles, heartfelt lyrics and beautiful melodies.
